I am a homeschool mom in Woodstock Georgia. I absolutely LOVE homeschooling! Everyone asks why I do it. My answers vary. Sometimes I tell people that I do it because we are in a poor school system. Sometimes I tell people that I am teaching my children because I think they will be more successful with one-on-one teaching rather than getting lost in the crowd of kids. Sometimes I say its so I can teach a Christian education. Depending on the person I talk to, I give different reasons. But the true answer is all the above. I also homeschool because I love it! I love watching their eyes light up when they finally figure out a solution to a problem, or make a connection they never made before. I love it when I can see the little gears moving in their brains, and they come up with the most interesting questions! I just love watching my children grow and delight in learning.
We are currently studying Genesis. My son and daughter (who are ages 7 and 4) have come up with the most interesting questions on the subject. My son asks, "Where is the Garden of Eden now? Why can't we find it?" My daughter asks, "What are Nephilum? Did they live through the flood?"
These are thoughts and questions I was never given the opportunity to explore with my parents when I was growing up. Fortunately, I am well educated, so I am able to share with my children a wealth of knowledge on many subjects. The questions they ask have few answers, but at least we are able to have lively discussions on what we think happened. I love sharing that with my children each and every day!
